Schools may want to ensure they have plenty of anti slip matting after hearing how a pupil is attempting to sue one institution.
The Coventry Telegraph reports how the city council is facing numerous lawsuits following accidents at different establishments in the last two years.
Since 2009, 25 claims have been made against the local authority with one resulting in a £12,000 payout for a trapped finger.
Last year, a pupil that slipped in 2006 during a period of wet weather began legal proceedings against his school, but the case is yet to be resolved.
So far, 12 of the lawsuits have been settled, with the council having to pay out £14,176.41 in compensation.
A spokesperson for the local authority said: "These are all legal liability claims against the council and for such claims to succeed it is necessary for the claimant to prove that the council has acted negligently in some way."
Elsewhere, Margaret Manners is hoping to receive a payout of more than £300,000 after allegedly slipping and injuring herself on a step at Killigarth Manor Park, the Basingstoke Gazette recently reported.
