The Dyson Airblade™ is unique in that it is the only hand dryer on the market certified with the Carbon Trust's Carbon Reduction label, a design engineer has pointed out.
While speaking to the Independent about the company's innovative research and development, Tom Blower explained a bit about how the machine's motor - which took five years to develop - works.
"It's smaller, but delivers better performance. Doing more, with less," he said.
Colleague and project manager Matthew Childe added that the motor inside the Dyson Airblade™ runs at a speed some five times that of a Formula 1 car, yet it does not wear out as fast as its competitors.
Their comments follow a recent interview Sir James Dyson gave to DIYLife.com, in which he said there are currently more than 60 engineers focused on making the motor more efficient.
Any business looking at improving its eco-friendly credentials will perhaps see the benefit in making changes across the board, not least with frequently used, essential washroom items such as hand dryers.
Modifications such as this can lead to longer-term cost savings and better employee satisfaction.
