Employers may want to ensure office bathrooms have good quality washroom air purification systems after hearing how one woman contracted asthma due to mould.
Doctors diagnosed Denise Bloomfield with the condition and blamed its development on the poor standard of her flat, the Waltham Forest Guardian reports.
The 58-year-old is said to suffer from severe breathing difficulties as a result of the mould that grows in the bathroom of her rented accommodation.
Ms Bloomfield told the publication: "The doctor was absolutely appalled at the state of the flat when he paid a house visit, he's writing a letter to the company asking for action to be taken."
Ascham Homes has now promised to visit the property and ensure a solution to the condensation problem is installed.
According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, air purification systems can help filter particles that can exacerbate breathing for those with the condition.
